Preventative Dentistry

Spring Hill dentist Dr. Mark Regenold believes that most serious dental conditions can be prevented by regular checkups and cleanings. That’s why he takes a comprehensive approach to dental care, aiming to diagnose problems early and use the most conservative treatments possible.

Quality preventive care will help you enjoy a lifetime of strong, healthy smiles, and it can save you a great deal of time and money on future dental treatment, too!

  • ROUTINE CLEANINGS & EXAMS

Biannual teeth cleanings keep your teeth and gums looking, feeling, and functioning their best. During cleanings, our hygienist will gently remove plaque and tartar (hardened plaque) from the surface of your teeth. She’ll also polish your teeth and floss to test the condition of your gums.

After your cleaning, Dr. Regenold will examine your teeth and gums, then evaluate your current restorations, examine any X-rays that were taken, and screen for early signs of gum disease and oral cancer.

  • LOW-RADIATION DIGITAL X-RAYS

Dental X-rays have come a long way since the days of heavy lead aprons and loud, slow machinery. We use the latest technology in our state-of-the-art Spring Hill dental practice, including digital X-rays. Not only do digital X-rays emit significantly less radiation than conventional X-rays, but they’re also faster and more comfortable too! With no lengthy chemical processing required, the images are available on our computer screen within seconds.

X-rays are a vital part of comprehensive dentistry because many problems with the teeth and surrounding tissues cannot be seen during a standard visual exam.

  • INTRAORAL CAMERAS FOR PATIENT EDUCATION

Like dental X-rays, digital photographs taken with our intraoral cameras are a useful diagnostic and patient education tool.

These photos show you what we see during your exam and help us guide you through your diagnosis and treatment options. They also enable Dr. Regenold to diagnose issues he might not have been able to see without a detailed view.

  • NIGHTGUARDS FOR BRUXISM
    (TEETH GRINDING)

Do you find yourself clenching your jaw or grinding your teeth when you’re stressed? What about when you’re asleep? Night-time teeth grinding can do a number on your teeth and jaw muscles, and many people don’t even know they’re doing it. If you experience chronic jaw fatigue or if Dr. Regenold notices that your teeth look unusually worn down, you might be grinding or clenching your teeth while you sleep. A comfortable, custom-fitted nightguard is an easy way to give your jaw a rest and preserve your teeth.

  • DENTAL SEALANTS & FLUORIDE TREATMENTS

Dental sealants fill in the grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, an area where food particles commonly get caught and cause cavities. Sealants can be applied quickly with minimal preparation, and they can effectively protect teeth for years.

Fluoride is a naturally-occurring mineral that protects teeth from decay and even helps reverse the early stages of decay. Children and adults alike can benefit from fluoride exposure. Most kinds of toothpaste on the market include a safe and effective amount of fluoride, but we also provide a more concentrated fluoride treatment after each professional cleaning to really fight off decay.

  • CUSTOM ATHLETIC MOUTHGUARDS

Adults and teens who participate in contact sports and high-impact recreational activities are at an increased risk of dental injury.

Athletic mouthguards not only protect the teeth and soft tissues but also help prevent more serious head injuries like concussions.

Cosmetic Dentistry

An attractive smile can enhance your self-esteem, boost your confidence, and help you make better first impressions on others. Dr. Regenold approaches every dental treatment with an artistic eye, but he also has the skill and training to provide procedures that are specifically cosmetic in nature. Whether your smile needs a little pick-me-up or a complete makeover, Smiles on Main has you covered!

  • Professional Teeth Whitening

Not getting the results you want from those drugstore whitening kits? Our powerful KöR Whitening Deep Bleaching™ system can brighten your smile up to 16 shades in less than two weeks, and the results last for years. Best of all, KöR Whitening includes a de-sensitizing gel that has been proven to significantly lessen tooth sensitivity, a common side effect of whitening. Ask us about KöR Whitening at your visit!

  • Dazzling Porcelain Veneers

Do you cover your mouth when you smile to hide chipped, gapped, or discolored teeth? Porcelain veneers can give you the confidence to reveal the beautiful smile you’ve been hiding! Veneers are ultra-thin ceramic casings that are bonded to the front side of your teeth to change your smile in virtually any way you desire. They look and feel like natural, healthy teeth.

Dr. Regenold can usually place custom veneers in two easy visits to our office. You’ll be showing off your new smile in no time! In some cases, veneers can even be used to correct teeth that are crooked or overlapped.

  • Facial Esthetics

Facial Esthetics? Really?? Yup! As a dentist, Dr. Reggie knows a significant amount about the face! Not only do we improve smiles, but we also create beautiful faces and can treat TMJ and migraines with esthetic treatments.

Restorative Dentistry

If you’re missing teeth, dealing with a dental injury, or living with a chronic condition like gum disease, restorative dentistry can give your smile a second chance! Dr. Regenold provides a number of effective restorative treatments that will have you eating your favorite foods and smiling with confidence again in no time.

  • Tooth-Colored Dental Filling

When Dr. Regenold fills cavities at his Spring Hill dental practice, he uses tooth-colored composite materials that can be easily bonded to the surface of your tooth. Composite fillings require less extensive preparation, so the results are often smaller and more natural-looking than silver fillings. The durable composite material is shaped and polished to match the rest of your tooth, leaving you with a smooth and subtle restoration.

  • Natural-Looking Crowns

Dental crowns improve more than just the appearance of your smile—they restore damaged and decayed teeth and protect them for years. Crowns are a functional, long-lasting restorative solution for teeth that are misshapen, damaged, or severely decayed. Crowns can be used alone or in conjunction with fixed dental bridges and dental implants.

  • Dental Implant Restorations

Are you missing teeth or struggling with uncomfortable dentures? Dental implants could change your life! Not only are implants an excellent way to replace one or multiple missing teeth, but they’re also helpful in stabilizing loose or ill-fitting dentures. Dr. Regenold utilizes the latest technology, including 3D x-rays, to help you find the best solution for your missing teeth.

  • Root Canal Therapy (Endodontics)

If you have a damaged tooth that is infected or is likely to become infected, you may benefit from root canal therapy. Root canal therapy is a highly successful restorative treatment, and a tooth repaired with a root canal can last a lifetime. Especially when it’s topped off with a natural-looking crown or fixed bridge, no one will even notice a difference in your smile!

Root canal therapy has a reputation for being painful, but the toothaches caused by an infected root are probably causing you more pain than the treatment will.

Periodontal (Gum) Health

The American Academy of Periodontology estimates that roughly 50% of adults have some form of gum disease. The early stage, known as gingivitis, is characterized by red, swollen gums that bleed every time you floss. Gingivitis is completely reversible with non-invasive treatments and home care. However, left untreated, gingivitis may eventually progress to periodontitis, a more serious form of gum disease. Periodontitis has been linked to an increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and uncontrolled diabetes.

The go-to treatment for gum disease used to be oral surgery, and although surgery is sometimes still the best option, Dr. Regenold can treat many cases with less invasive techniques.
